Recently, TI (Texas Instruments) announced the successful launch of a new generation of integrated automotive chips - AWRL6844 60GHz millimetre wave radar sensor.
By running edge AI algorithms, this sensor is able to achieve occupancy detection for seat belt reminder systems, in-vehicle child detection and intrusion detection on a single chip, providing a safer driving environment for drivers and passengers. According to TI, the AWRL6844 integrates four transmitters and four receivers to provide high-resolution detection data at a cost optimised for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The sensor's Edge Intelligence feature is able to detect and locate vehicle occupants with 98% accuracy, support seat belt reminder function, and also reduce false alarms through intelligent scanning technology after stopping the car.TI's innovative product will drive the automotive industry to a smarter and safer direction.
